It’s the week before your big event, and there are all kinds of preparations to be made! I know you have a list and you’re checking it twice — about every 4 seconds or so! So much to do…so little time! Every day you will chip away at that list, and when the day arrives, you’ll be ready to roll because you’ve done all the hard work it takes to be prepared.
Joshua had a big day ahead of him and there were many preparations to be made, leading up to the actual event of “living in the Promised Land”. To help him prepare, God had a talk with him and gave him some strong coaching: “You will lead…give it everything you have, heart and soul…don’t get off track…keep My Word top of mind, pondering it day and night. Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid. God, your God is with you every step of the way.” (Joshua 1:7-9)
Next thing we know, Joshua is taking immediate action. He doesn’t wait or wonder. No, he gets busy and motivates others to join in, immediately informing the officers of the people to make preparations because “in 3 days, we are entering The Promised Land!”
I imagine there was some major list-making that day, because 3 days later, those 2 million people sure did cross a formidable river (on dry land, no less) and entered their Promised Land, just as God said. And no doubt God was with them every step of the way, proven in the fact that they were victorious over insurmountable odds, supernaturally succeeding, living in abundance on the other side. Those preparations paid off. That immediate action produced the promised results!
Whether your “Promised Land” is one day of Christmas celebration or a longer season of life, the guiding principle is the same: “Keep My Word top of mind, pondering it day and night. Strength! Courage! I am with you every step of the way.”
Pondering is your Preparation. Make listening to God your priority and your preparations will lead you right to the place He has prepared for you and yours.
